Ernest – or Ernie as he prefers to be called – is from the lovely village of Horspath, just east of Oxford, and he now lives with us here at Cumnor Hill House.

Everyone who has met Ernie will agree that he’s a real character, but one thing that some people don’t know is that he is an entertainer through and through! And here in our home, we were lucky enough to hear Ernie perform a few weeks ago.

We hold regular entertainment here on Thursday evenings at Cumnor Hill House – you can sign up to our mailing list to receive updates and invitations by emailing us at info@cumnorhillhouse.com. At one of our recent events, Ernie was enjoying himself so much that he was singing along to the songs and ended up performing a solo in front of residents, staff and guests! The audience was captivated, and Ernie was in his element. It was such a joy to see.

Ernie has also been known to play melodies on his harmonica for everyone, putting smiles on people’s faces – as a matter of fact, Ernie used to be in a harmonica band as a child! A local chap invited Ernie and his friend to join the band, so they used to sit in front of the main group, playing in places such as the Ritz Theatre in Oxford, the Town Hall and the Sports Club.

Come along to our Thursday evening entertainment and you never know, you may be lucky enough to enjoy one of Ernie’s fine impromptu performances. Ask about our events next time you’re here or get in touch to find out more.
